Just before the October half term, 43 pupils and 6 staff from the Junior School and Dame Bradbury’s jetted off to Salamanca in Spain.
As voters descended on polling stations around the country yesterday, young voters also posted their ballots during the Stephen Perse Foundation’s mock elections.
Year 5 pupils arrived at school on Thursday 23 February, looking as though they had stepped straight out of the Tudor era. It was a windy morning so the Tudor ladies had to hold onto their bonnets as they boarded the coaches!
Following on from our stimulating collaborative day at Bletchley Park and as past of our WW2 topic, Junior School Year 6 pupils were evacuated to Dame Bradbury's in Saffron Walden to spend time with their counterparts at Dame B’s on Tuesday 21 February.
On Tuesday 21 February sixteen teams, consisting of Year 4 pupils from both the Junior School and Dame Bradbury’s, competed for consideration as astronauts on a forthcoming mission to the moon. Each activity was designed to prepare them for the mission and earned them points towards a final score, which would determine whether they had what it takes to be a space shuttle crew.
On Tuesday 21 February Year 3 went on an exciting trip to the Safety Centre in Milton Keynes; here they entered Hazard Alley and learnt how to keep themselves and others safe in a variety of different situations.
On Wednesday 1 February, we were joined by two enthusiastic young structural engineers, Helen Leung and Mike Kovacs, from the engineering firm Ramboll. They delivered a special activity for Year 6, under the auspices of our Junior Inspire programme.
Bletchley Park never disappoints and today lived up to its reputation as a location that successfully engages and educates. It was the scene of the first of two Dame B's and Junior School collaborative events.
We took our biggest cross country squad to date to the annual ‘Bedfordia Trophy’ Cross Country Championships on what was a cold but gloriously sunny afternoon. Idyllic cross country conditions but with 28 schools competing a tough challenge.
