On Wednesday 3rd May, Year 5 and 6 were extremely lucky to meet children’s author, Julian Sedgwick, creator of the Mysterium series of books.

Year 6 librarians met with Julian for a question and answer session before he presented an enthralling talk about his life before publication and the highlights of being an author.

Julian had the children gripped from the outset with his engaging visual presentation, his interesting insight into Shanghai in the 1920s and his fascination with circus acts.

He read extracts from his current series of books about Ruby Harkner and the underworld of Shanghai and had the children (and teachers) on the edge of their seats with his very own circus act after describing the setting of his Mysterium series.

The children were thrilled to get their books signed by Julian and many were inspired to read all of his books.
