Since Monday normal school life at Stephen Perse has changed. Pupils across our schools have sat down at their dining room tables instead of school desks and teachers have grabbed their morning coffee from the quiet of their own kitchens instead of a busy staff room.

Despite changes like these, the heart of Stephen Perse has remained unchanged - our teachers are still ready to inspire and our pupils are still eager to learn.

Children of key workers are learning with us on-site, with younger pupils involved in a mix of classroom and outdoor activities including good morning and story time videos to help structure their day. Older pupils have live teaching sessions to follow as well as time outside in the garden area on-site and at our sports ground at Latham Road. This week the pupils have been very active, taking part in table tennis and a remote workout!

Dame Bradbury's

The week started positively at Dame Bradbury's with the first remote entry to the Spring Reading Challenge book cover competition. The below cover of The Middler by Kirsty Applebaum was painted by Saffron and we hope to see more entries sent in throughout the week.

Year 1 used Tapestry to engage in remote learning and used lots of cross-curricular links and various science experiments, baking, musical and outdoor based activities to continue looking into this terms topics.

Rosedale House and Madingley

Year 5 at Rosedale worked on their literacy skills as they shared their point of view from their rooms, focusing on what sights and sounds they are aware of. They also shared some great selfies of themselves as they learn from home.

Senior school

Over at the Senior school Year 7 explored the concept of Cubism in their remote art class and drew up some fantastic pieces.

Year 8 drama classes have been creating animations and adding their own foley sound effects using items found at home.

 Sixth Form

Sixth Form English classes have recently been studying Ibsen’s A Doll’s House and exploring different interpretations of Ibsen’s presentation of the characters and the relationships between them as well as making links to wider social, historical and theatrical contexts.

Both sixth form and senior pupils can access PE and Games content created by our sports department on Google Classroom to keep themselves and their families active whilst at home. The first of their family challenges was for every family member to touch the ball at least once before trying to get it into a box.
