Go4Set links teams of six Year 8/9 students with employers and universities to offer a 10 week Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Project.

Two teams from Year 9 presented their projects at a celebration and assessment day at Cambridge University Department of Engineering on Tuesday 2 April. Both teams worked really hard over the ten week period to try to produce something new and interesting to present to the assessors and the public.

One team worked on a project called ‘Futurail’ a brief to create a more eco-friendly railway station. This project team placed as runners-up in the student choice category losing by one vote. The second team worked on the theme of ‘My School is an Island’ designing a new school on an imaginary island in Scotland. This project team won the best teamwork award.

The Stephen Perse Foundation would like to thank ARM for providing support for this project and the Engineering Development Trust for organising the scheme. We hope that these projects will continue to support STEM learning in our schools and encourage the next generation to follow careers in science, technology and engineering.
