Year 10 visit Cambridge University's Cavendish Labs

On 16 September a group of keen Year 10 physicists visited the brand new Cavendish Labs at the University of Cambridge for their annual Physics at Work trip with the Physics Department.

They heard from industry experts, including a scientist who researched the hole in the ozone layer at BAS. Students enjoyed hands-on activities like making solar panels, standing on a bed of nails, and building go-karts. Impressively, one of our teams finished third out of 36 schools in the go-kart challenge! This day helped to spread the excitement of modern physics research to students who will soon be making career choices and is an important component in encouraging the next generation of scientists.
