Questioning, sifting through information, prioritising: these are skills that everyone needs to learn for themselves – but we believe in guiding our pupils in this aspect of their learning. We actively encourage our pupils to become active thinkers and learners.

Across our curriculum, the following skills are integral:

  • collaborative thinking
  • critical thinking
  • caring thinking
  • creative thinking
  • curious thinking
  • reflective thinking

Thinking Skills are embedded in Dame Bradbury’s teaching and learning, assisting our pupils to:

  • Develop the ability to discuss and debate
  • Learn to be flexible in their opinions
  • Question what they hear

By using their thinking skills our pupils learn to look at cause and effect. For example, Year 6 applied this model to their task of creating their own bionic body part, which they then animated and tested out using green screen technology on the iPad.

Thinking skills

Our focus isn't on facts and figures - it more about learning how to think.

Learning characteristics

Developing learning habits to face the challenges of school and life beyond.

Social responsibility

We encourage our boys and girls to look beyond their own lives.

Digital learning

We use technology to enhance and expand learning opportunities.
